The Jefferson Debating and Literary Society was formed in 1910 as an alternative to the existing four literary societies already existing at [then] State Female Normal School. The Jefferson Society as well as the Ruffner Society were meant to offer those students not already in a literary society the opportunity to participate in debate and literary discussion. The organization existed on campus from 1910 to 1929.
This collection, consisting of (1) hardbound ledger, contains the constitution, by-laws, and meeting minutes of the Jefferson Debating and Literary Society. It ranges in date from 1910 through 1926.
