Custodial History

This collection was donated over time by Betty Eike. These were mostly items she found at her mother's house, and donated to the Archives.


Biographical / Historical

This collection contains information on four family members associated with, State Teachers College, and Longwood College. Each family member is represented by their own series of items which include papers, photos or newspaper clippings related to their time at Longwood.

Persons included and relationships are:

Mamie Hubbard: Married name Andrews, she was Barbara and Betty's mother, and remarried Kenneth L. McClenny. She served at Longwood as the Housekeeping Supervisor during the 70s.

Janie Hubbard: Married name Jones, was Mamie's sister, and head nurse at Longwood College.

Barbara Andrews: Attended Longwood College in 1953 for one year before enrolling in pharmacy school.

Betty Andrews: Married name Eike. Graduated from Longwood in 1965 with an undergraduate degree, and then received her graduate degree in 1973. She began working in the library in 1969.

Scope and Contents

This collection contains letters, newspaper clippings and photos, of Mamie Hubbard Andrews, Janie Hubbard Jones, Barbara Andrews, and Betty Andrews Eike. As well as general ephemera from Longwood throughout the years they were related to the institution.
