Genealogy traced back to Elmer Ellsworth Carlin (died August 1, 1909) and his wife Katherine Emmaline Porter (died July 22, 1902). Contains photographs of Katherine, Elmer, and Elmer's father, John Carlin, as well as photographs of their headstones. John Carlin was a leader of the West Virginia Grand Army of the Republic (GAR). Also contains three pages of genealogical information pertaining to Elmer, Katherine, and Elmer's parents, John Carlin and Anna Dean Lyeth. There is also a letter that Katherine Carlin sent to her father, Daniel Porter, from Wheeling, West Virginia (28 November 1886); it describes the health of her family and a labor strike happening at the time.
