The papers were given to the Library by Ann Whitehead Thomas, on August 9, 2007.
Robert Whitehead was a member of the Virginia House of Delegates for Amherst and
Nelson Counties.
The collection contains an M.A. thesis The Political Career of
Robert Whitehead by William Baldwin Obrochta, 1985; correspondence
concerning the thesis; an interview with Ann Whitehead Thomas, 2006, by James H.
Hershman, Jr., chiefly concerning her father; remarks by George E. Allen at the
unveiling of a portrait of Whitehead; a letter from Francis Pickens Miller on
Whitehead, 1960; and assorted clippings.
