Edward Thorne Arithmetic Book, Manuscript # MS 80.3.1, John D. Rockefeller, Jr. Library, Colonial Williamsburg Foundation
Purchase, 1930.
Microfilm copy (M-1585) available.
This manuscript arithmetic book contains explanations of addition, subtraction, multiplication and division; addition and subtraction of money; eighteenth-century weights and measures; time; and reduction of fractions. Problems and solutions are included. It is probably not of Virginia origin; it might possibly be from another American colony, but it is more likely from England.
