Biographical/Historical Information

Carter's Grove, located along the James River in Williamsburg, VA, was home to Virginia's earliest settlers in the 1600s, to proud plantation owners and enslaved field workers in the 1700s and 1800s, and to a 20th-century couple who preserved and embellished the property's historic appeal in the 1930s and 1940s.
