Biographical/Historical Information
Robert R. Jackson (1797-1872) appears to have operated a sawmill in addition to other mercantile activities. He also served at various times as deputy sheriff of Fairfax County and was one of the appraisers of the estate of Bushrod Washington.
Scope and Content Information
Accounts are mostly for general merchandise. Also includes sawmill accounts, accounts for construction material, property rental accounts, and accounts of the hire of slaves, as well as for the sale of slaves in Vicksburg, Mississippi in 1841. Also contains accounts with various banks, accounts relating to the administration of estates, and accounts with the Overseers of the Poor in Fairfax County, Virginia. Indexed.
