Historical Information

Shenandoah Valley Distilling Company was organized and headquartered in Timberville, Rockingham County, Virginia. The company began operations in July 1934. It manufactured, bought, sold, distributed, stored, warehoused, and exported brandy, whiskey, high wines, spirits, alcohol, and gin. The company distilled, redistilled, and rectifying high wines, spirits, and alcohol, and to compound and blend gins and whiskeys of all kinds. It also manufactured, bought, sold, dealt in, stored, warehoused, distributed, and exported fruits, grain, molasses, and all articles used in connection with the operation of a distillery.

Scope and Content

Minute book, 1934-1949, of Shenandoah Valley Distilling Company that records the company's certificate of incorporation, by-laws, stock subscription agreement, and the meetings of the company's stockholders and board of directors from its inception. Information found in the minutes includes date and location of meetings, selection of officers, resignation of officers, by-laws, resolutions, officer reports, and decisions made by the board of directors and stockholders related to the miscellaneous activities of the company. The volume also includes correspondence related to the sale of the company and other miscellaneous loose papers.
