These boxes came to the Library of Virginia in a transfer of records from Rockbridge County.
Rockbridge County was named for Natural Bridge, an exceptional rock formation located in the county. The county was formed in 1778 from Augusta and Botetourt counties, and another part of Botetourt County was added in 1888.
