Bio/Historical Note

Nancy Howe Walker Bouvier was born on August 7, 1931 to Nancy and William Desmond Walker of Mitchellville, Maryland. Bouvier graduated from Madison College in 1952 with a Bachelor of Science degree. While enrolled at Madison College, Bouvier participated in the Association of Childhood Education, Granddaughter's Club, Zeta Tau Alpha, and the Standards Committee (which promoted proper social conduct and appearances on campus). She was also President of Alumnae Hall.

Walker worked for nearly 30 years in the Prince George's County, Maryland school system as a 5th and 6th grade teacher at Kettering Elementary School. She married William J. Bouvier, with whom she had three children, Robert Bouvier, Nanette Rediker, and Raymond Bouvier. She passed away on November 30, 2006. She was interred at the Maryland Veterans Cemetery in Cheltenham, Maryland.

Scope and Content

The Nancy Walker Bouvier Papers, 1951, are comprised of papers collected during Bouvier's time as a student at Madison College. The items include a report card, meeting requests from university faculty members, a student deposit fund card, and several blank permission slips for dates, overnight trips, day trips, and off-campus trips.
