Biographical Information
Michael Johnson attended George Mason College in the mid-1960s. A student athlete, Johnson was a talented basketball and baseball player according to a 1968 news article. His time at Mason was marked by the transition from two-year junior college to four-year college, and the school became a full independent university a few years after his graduation.
Scope and Content
The collection contains a small assortment of items that document the history of George Mason College and George Mason University during the mid 1960s and early 1970s. The items include a beanie, newspaper clippings about the school and about Michael Johnson dating from 1965-1968, and a diploma case with two examples of the first diplomas given by the independent George Mason University in 1972.
