Custodial History

These items, which belonged to Elizabeth Moon Hancock, and relate to her time as a student at State Female Normal School, were acquired by Nancy Shelton during her tenure with the Longwood University Department of Alumni Relations. It is unknown when the collection was transferred to the Greenwood Library Archives.


Biographical / Historical

Elizabeth Moon Hancock was born in Scottsville, Virginia in 1895. She attended [then] State Female Normal School from 1913-1915. While at the school she served as Vice-President of the Jefferson Debating & Literary Society and was a member of the French Club.

Scope and Contents

This collection consists of ephemeral items, student records, and (9) black & white photographic images of students and faculty at [then] State Female Normal School. While the majority are undated, they likely all date from 1913-1915.
