Custodial History

The items in this collection, which belonged to Lelia Marion Bryant while she was a student at State Teachers College, were donated to the Longwood University Department of Alumni Relations by Marienne Stern of Avon Lake, Ohio. It is unknown when this collection was transferred to the Greenwood Library Archives.


Biographical / Historical

Lelia Marion Bryant of Carrsville, Virginia was born in 1913 to Walter Bryant and Gertrude (Lewis) Bryant. In 1932 she enrolled in then State Teachers College in Farmville, Virginia, earning her diploma in 1934. While a student at State Teachers College, Bryant was a member of the Granddaughters Club, College Choir, YWCA, and the Athletic Association.

Scope and Contents

This collection, which dates ca.1932 to 1934, consists of a freshman "rat cap" beanie and a diploma.
