Custodial History

The items in this collection, which relate to Katherine Krebs during her time as a student at State Normal School for Women, were acquired by Nancy Shelton during her tenure with the Longwood University Department of Alumni Relations. It is unknown when the collection was transferred to the Greenwood Library Archives.


Biographical / Historical

Katherine Hamilton Krebs was born in 1899 in Rockbridge, Virginia to Alexander McNutt and Eva Hamilton Krebs. In 1918, she enrolled in the State Normal School for Women in Farmville, Virginia, earning her diploma in 1920. While a student at State Normal School for Women, Krebs was a member of YWCA, Sigma Sigma Sigma (ΣΣΣ), Mu Omega (ΜΩ), Ellen Richards Club, D.I.R.K., the Cunningham Literary Society, the Roanoke Club, the Cotillion Club, and the Athletic Association. Additionally, she played on the Junior and Senior basketball teams, serving as Captain of the former.

Scope and Contents

The items in this collection, which date from 1918 to 1920, consist of loose scrapbook pages, photographs, and ephemeral materials collected by Katherine Krebs while a student at State Normal School for Women.
