Biographical Note

Robert Southey (1774-1843) was a British poet and writer of prose. After Walter Scott refused, Southey became poet laureate (1813-1843). He was a contributor to The Quarterly Review , a Tory journal, from 1809-1838.

Scope and Content

The collection consists of eight manuscript pages with fragments of prose that are likely unpublished, written by Robert Southey. Topics include atheists, devils, and extracts of letters on the Irish. Transcripts are available.
