The Union Elektricitäts-Gesellschaft Company Photographs (also Union Elektricitaets-Gesellschaft Company or UEG) of Berlin originated in the United States in January 1892 when the Thomson-Houston Electric Company founded the UEG as its subsidiary in Germany. Six months later, Thomson-Houston merged with Edison General Electric Company to form General Electric.
UEG designed, manufactured, and operated electric trams throughout the world. The company also manufactured electric locomotives for railways. On July 1, 1903, UEG combined with the Allgemeinen Elektritaets-Gesellschaft (AEG), forming AEG Union, which, in turn, merged into Aktiengesellschaft fur Elektrische Industrie (ELIN) in 1959.
This collection consists of a single photograph album containing photos from the Union Elektricitäts-Gesellschaft Company Photographs (also Union Elektricitaets-Gesellschaft Company) of Berlin, Germany. The photos include both interior and exterior views of the company's factory and many of its products, including meters, dynamos, and a cable car.
