Biographical Note
Arthur W. Grove was born in abt 1866 and died in 1946. He lived in Virginia and worked for the Norfolk & Western Railroad Company. His wife Margaret was born in about 1871. They had three children, including: Mary L (born abt 1892), Annie C [Cliffie] (born abt 1894), and David F (born abt 1899).
Scope and Content
The Arthur W. Grove Papers includes personal and business correspondence and receipts dated from 1900 to 1946. Receipts within the collection regard hospital visits, taxes, real estate and pension deposits. Grove's personal and business correspondence consists of two letters regarding: the Norfolk & Western Railway Company pension fund and someone named Tom.
The Margaret F. Grove Papers contain bank checks and personal and business correspondence. There are three documents within the latter category. The first is a 1949 letter from her son Dave who, at the time, was in the hospital. The second is from 1954 and reports an annuity from the Railroad Retirement Act. Lastly, the third is a 1949 letter from Mary regarding the condition of Tom in Ohio.
The [Annie] Cliffie Grove Paper is the official notification of a position to teach in Roanoke, VA.
