James H. Price was a member of the Washington and Lee University School of Law, Class of 1909, and the governor of Virginia from 1938-1942.

Scope and Contents

Correspondence during the 1926 – 29 period is compirsed almost exclusively congratulatory letters written to James H. Price in regards to his appointment as the "Imperial Recorder" of the Ancient Arabic Order of the Nobles of the Mystic Shrine, now known as Shriners International - a social organization associated with Freemasonry. The letters are written from friends and associates from Shriner lodges around the United States. There are some letters written by Price. Correspondence from 1936 though the early months of 1938 are mostly includes mostly congratulatoy
