Abstract
Eighteen letters and one postcard authored by Mrs. Ida D'Ooge Boucher, wife of former West Virginia University President Chauncey Samuel Boucher, to immediate family members ("Dearies"), dating from August 1935 to November 1936. The letters document in detail the daily life of the Boucher family in their first year in Morgantown at the beginning of Boucher's tenure as President. Much of University life is recorded in the letters. Topics include: moving to Morgantown; description, furnishing, and maintenance of their home ("Purinton House"); University social events at their home and in the community; travel; and activities of President Boucher, among others. There is also one letter from "mother" to "children," and a banquet program. There are a total of 61 pages of manuscript text in the collection.
