Abstract
Original copy of land grant to Jacob Bumgarner for 372 acres "on the south fork of Hughes's river" in Harrison County, Virginia (present day West Virginia). The land grant is dated 7 October 1813, and is signed by by the Governor of the Commonwealth of Virginia, James Barbour. The document references three previous treasury warrants by their numbers, including 4653 (1810); 4614 (1811); and 18,444 (1783). Treasury warrants were legal instruments utilized for documenting land acquisitions in Virginia, and were issued in numbered series.
