Scope and Contents

An artificial collection of paper currency issued by the Confederate State of America, during the years of the Civil War, 1861-1865.

Folder 1 contains 5 notes issued by the cities Lewisburg, Union, and Charlestown [now Charles Town], Confederate cities located in what is now the state of West Virginia (1861-1863). These items are black and white photocopies.

Folder 2 contains three treasury notes from the state of Virginia (1862) and two Confederate currency notes (1864).

Folder 3 contains 1 facsimile of a Confederate currency note and 1 novelty paper currency note (ca. 1905).
