Abstract
Adam W. Johnson was a member of the 60th Virginia Infantry, the third regiment in the Wise Legion, during the Civil War. Letter from Johnson to his family was written from Meadow Bluff in Greenbrier County, Virginia, on 23 October 1861. Johnson comments on his health, food, field conditions, where the unit has marched, his need for paper and boots, and his regimental commander.
