Scope and Contents

Publications of works by incarcerated members of book clubs facilitated by the Appalachian Prison Book Project (APBP). Includes one copy of Holding onto Sand , a collection of writings by the incarcerated members of the APBP Book Club at FCI Hazelton, a men's medium security federal prison in Preston County, West Virginia. Beginning in June of 2016, four APBP volunteers facilitated a book club that met inside the men's medium security federal prison; this publication contains the club members' works through May of 2018. Also includes one copy of Women of Wisdom: Writing by the Women's Book Club at Hazelton , the first collection of writings and artwork by the incarcerated members of the Women of Wisdom Book Club, an APBP-facilitated book club at the Secure Female Facility at FCI Hazelton. Started in October 2014, this group continues to meet every other week (as of January 2019).
