Scope and Contents

This collection consists of nine letters from William C. Watson, Jr. to William L. (Billy) Wilson between 1927 and 1941. Both were students and graduated of Washington and Lee University. After college, Watson went to work for Standard-Vacuum Oil Company and was employed in Canton, China, among other places in the Far East. Of note is a letter written to Wilson on December 10, 1939, which describes his experinces in Canton, China during the Japanese invasion of the city during the Sino-Japanese War. Another correspondent in this collection is Washington and Lee university alumnus William B. "Bill" Harrington, Jr.
