Lexington Hotel. Records, 1867-1872. Accession 22121k, Business records collection, The Library of Virginia, Richmond, Virginia.
Purchased, 22 April 1943.
During the period covered by the records described, the Lexington Hotel in Rockbridge County, Virginia, was operated by Charles Triplett O'Ferrall (1840-1905) and William W. Major. O'Ferrall had formerly managed the American Hotel in Staunton, and his association with the Lexington Hotel appears to have continued until his graduation from the law school at Washington College in 1869.
Includes a daybook (1876-1868), an inventory of the hotel, and a cashbook (1868). Manuscript items include letters to O'Ferrall concerning a subscription, a check, a War of 1812 pension declaration, and a deed for property in Harrisonburg, Virginia.
