Biographical/Historical Information

The Orange Humane Society was a charitable organization founded in Orange County to educate the orphans of the county.

Scope and Content Information

Records, 1820, of the Orange Humane Society including a) a statement, 15 February 1820, exhibiting the amount of funds of the society at the time of its incorporation in 1811 and in each successive year until 1819, the number of children annually educated, the price paid for their tuition, and the annual expenditures of the institution; and b) the report, 22 May 1820, of the society president John S. Barbour (1790- 1855).
