Biographical/Historical Information

George White Jr. appears on the King George County (Va.) tax records as early as 1813 as a merchant in partnership with William Monroe at Port Conway.

Scope and Content Information

Journal, 1803-1813, recording individual accounts for general merchandise including clothing, cloth, meat, tobacco, whiskey, and books. Accounts are with individuals from Caroline, King George, Spotsylvania, and Westmoreland Counties, Virginia. Included are individuals with the surnames Buckner, Dishman, Jett, and Thornley. Numerous accounts with free Negroes and slaves are recorded, and many individuals are identified by occupation. Also included are Bible records of the Strother family (see Acc. 29705).
