Members of the Bolling family acquired land in what is now Petersburg early in the 18th century and increased their holdings over the years. The record below seems to concern property in the area from Sycamore Street (Petersburg, Va.), to Lieutenant Run. Robert B. Bolling (1805-1881) was the son of Robert Bolling of Centre Hill.
The volume records charges to individuals and companies for the rent of homes, tenements, stores, and shops in Petersburg, Virginia. Included are date, account balance or amount in arrear, lot number, name of tenant, description of property, amount of rent or amount paid, remarks, and date lease commenced.
