John W. Keyser was born 13 April 1847 in Page County, Virginia, to Andrew J. Keyser (1824-1887) and Eliza J. Glenn Keyser. John W. Keyser was a school teacher, farmer, shoemaker, and painter. He married first Christina Tutwiller (1846-1890), 5 March 1873, and they had 4 children. Keyser married second Mollie E. Kibler (1854-1926), 3 December 1892. Keyser died at the University of Virginia Hospital 18 October 1917, and was buried in Graves Chapel Methodist Church cemetery in Stanley, Page County, Virginia.
Diaries, 1868-1917, of John W. Keyser (1847-1917) of Page County, Virginia, consisting of observations on life in Page County, his teaching, his house painting, and weather observations. They also contain accounts, births, marriages, deaths and other miscellaneous entries and notes. The diaries provide a view into late 19th and early 20th century rural Page County. No volumes exist for 1869, 1870, 1874, 1890, 1898, and 1910.
