Rappahannock Home Mutual Fire Insurance Company conducted business in Rappahannock County during the late nineteenth century and early twentieth century.
Ledger, 1894-1925, of Rappahannock Home Mutual Fire Insurance Company that records the accounts of its policyholders. Each account lists the property insured such as house, furniture, barn, kitchen, ice house, etc., the value of each property, and the date when the property was assessed. The total value of the policyholders' properties were used to calculate the annual assessment owed by the policyholder to the insurance company. The insurance company's policyholders included individuals, businesses, churches, and fraternal organizations.
The ledger contained loose documents that were pulled from the volume and placed in an archival box. They include correspondence between policyholders and the insurance company; brief minutes of the insurance company's annual meetings; a list that contains the names of policyholders in alphabetical order, the total value of their property, and the annual assessment owed; and other miscellaneous documents.
