Orange County was formed in 1741 from Spotsylvania County.
The deed books of Orange County in this collection were created by the County Court.
Deed books, 1738-1759, of Orange County Court. The deed books record the name of the grantor and grantee, the residence of both individuals and the description of property being sold or transferred. The volumes have indexes which contains the first and last names of both parties and are arranged alphabetically from A-Z. Deed Book No. 11 (1734-1760) have records of land improvement.
