Middlesex County was formed in 1669 from Lancaster County.
Middlesex County (Va.) Deed of Trust, C.B. Fontaine to Carter B. Berkeley, 1807 June 22. In the deed, Fontaine grants Carter Berkeley the right to sell, as necessary, certain slaves inherited by his wife, Alice Berkeley, in order to satisfy debts against her inheritance from the estate of her father, the late Edmund Berkeley.
