Cumberland County was named for William Augustus, duke of Cumberland, third son of George II. It was formed from Goochland County in 1749.
Cumberland County (Va.) List of Fee Bills Due to the Clerk of Fluvanna County from Persons Residing in Cumberland County, 1819. The document contains a list of names of individuals who owe money to the Fluvanna County Court, the amount each person owes, and the date the fee was accrued. Also included is an acknowledgement from the Cumberland County Clerk of his intent to collect the fees according to law.
