Historical Information

Charlotte County was named for Charlotte of Mecklenburg-Strelitz, consort of George III. It was formed from Lunenburg County in 1764.

Scope and Content

Charlotte County (Va.) Relief Bond, 1867 Feb. 1. The bond, for five hundred dollars, was issued by Charlotte County to Merchants Insurance Company of Richmond in pursuance of an act of the General Assembly 1863 October 31 for the relief of indigent soldiers and sailors of the State of Virginia.
