Fredericksburg, in Spotsylvania County, was named for Frederick Louis, Prince of Wales, eldest son of George II. Fredericksburg was established in 1728, was incorporated as a town in 1782, and became a city in 1879.
Fredericksburg (Va.) Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors Minutes, 1891-1892. The minutes document the founding of the Chamber, the organization of committees, and efforts to lobby the state legislature and U.S. Congress. Topics discussed include railroads, street railroads, and improvements to the river in Fredericksburg. The minute book also contains a newspaper clipping with a transcript of minutes documenting the organization of the Chamber.
