Scope and Content

These records consist of the correspondence and subject files of the community college president. May include incoming and outgoing correspondence, memoranda and reports that document the functions, activities and policies of the office and the community college.

This collection has not been processed but rather a simple alphabetical listing of the files was included as each box contains over 100 folders and the folders should be combined. Each folder may contain only one letter or item and are arranged by subject of the letter, rather than chronologically. A variety of topics are included regarding faculty, graduation, continuing education, desegregation, doctoral programs, financial aid, budgets, various committees (Advisory Council of Presidents, American Association of Higher Education, College Board, Curriculum Advisory Committee, Intergovernmental Advisory Council on Education, State Council of Higher Education for Virginia, State Board for Community Colleges, Virginia Community Colleges), affirmative action, contracts, insurance, deans lists, other community colleges, legislation, management, occupational/technical programs, personnel, policies and procedures, public relations, research, educational resources, General Assembly, grants, salaries, students, and transfers, among other subjects.
