This box came to the Library of Virginia in a transfer of records from Sussex County.
Sussex County was named for the English county, and was formed from Surry County by a statute adopted 1753. The county court first met on 30 May 1754.
Sussex County (Va.) Records, 1909-1948, consist of the following series: Tax and Fiscal Records, 1909-1948, School Records, 1946 and Miscellaneous Records--an American flag. All records are unprocessed.
