Biographical Information

Nellie Jane Moseley was born in Pitt County, North Carolina, 8 July 1916 to David Moseley and Susan Norville Moseley. Nellie Moseley married Roy Agnew Jacobs (1911-1943) 2 July 1938 in Fredericksburg, Virginia. After Jacobs' death during World War II, Nellie Jacobs married Fred J. Patrick (1917-1982) of Richmond, Virginia. Nellie Jane Moseley Jacobs Patrick died 26 January 2004 in Richmond, and was buried in Forest Lawn Cemetery.

Roy Agnew Jacobs was born 15 November 1911 in Nottoway County, Virginia. He worked as a lineman for the Chesapeake and Potomac Telephone Company of Virginia. When World War II began, Jacobs enlisted 21 August 1942 and became a master sergeant in the Signal Corps. He was killed when the transport ship he was on was sunk off the coast of North Africa 27 November 1943.

Fred J. Patrick was born 27 June 1917 in Tazewell County, Virginia. By 1940, he was living in Richmond, Virginia, and working for Doyle and Russell Contractors. Patrick enlisted in the army 17 February 1943 and was discharged 7 December 1945. Patrick married Nellie Jacobs 19 October 1946. Patrick was a warehouse supervisor for Miller and Rhoads department store in Richmond. He died 14 July 1982.

Papers, 1938-1946, of Nellie Moseley Jacobs Patrick (1916-2004) of Richmond, Virginia, consisting of correspondence and papers regarding the death of her husband Roy Agnew Jacobs (1911-1943) during World War II, and of photographs, post-1950, of her second husband Fred J. Patrick (1917-1982), warehouse supervisor for Miller and Rhoads.
