David de Boschi set design for an unidentified ballet, C0452, Special Collections Research Center, George Mason University Libraries.
Purchased by Steve Gerber from Schubertiade Music on 2/22/2010.
Processing completed by Elizabeth Beckman in November 2019. EAD markup completed by Elizabeth Beckman in November 2019. This item was formerly part of the Performing Arts Manuscript Materials collection, C0215.
According to notes provided by Schubertiade Music, David de Boschi was a 19th century Italian set designer who worked in the region of Florence on operas and ballets. Antonio Cortesi (1796-1879) was an Italian ballet dancer and choreographer of the Romantic era who worked across Europe, choreographing over 60 ballets, including "Ines de Castro" and a version of "Giselle" ("Cortesi, Antonio").
The collection consists of a single set design, with color, drawn by designer David de Boschi (the lower left hand corner reads "David de Boschi fece") for a ballet. According to notes from Schubertiade, the dealer from which the item was purchased, it is probably for a ballet by choreographer Antonio Cortesi.
This is a single item collection.
