Ownership and Custodial History
It is unknown when, or under what circumstances, this collection of photographic slides was acquired by Longwood University
or the Greenwood Library Archives.
Pauline Camper was born in 1881 in Salem, Virginia. She graduated from [then] State Female Normal School in June 1901. While
at the school she served on the Board of Editors for the Virginian (yearbook) and was a member of the basketball team and
the Skaters Club. From 1921 to 1923 she served as Supervisor of Rural Education in Prince Edward County. In 1925 Camper earned
a B.S. from the Teacher's College in New York. From 1927 to 1928 returned to [by then] State Teachers College in Farmville
as an associate professor in the Department of Education.
This collection of black & white photographs dates from the early 1920s and consists of images of Longwood campus, Farmville,
and Prince Edward County, including several rural schools in the county.
