Custodial History

The records in this collection originated with the Faculty Colloquium Committee at Longwood College. It is unknown when this collection was transferred to the Greenwood Library Archives.


Biographical / Historical

The Longwood faculty voted in 1973 to create a new Faculty Lecture Series. This series was called the Longwood College Faculty Colloquium. The series was designed to present all interested faculty members engaged in research and writing with an opportunity to share their results with the whole college community. In the early 1980s Longwood's Colloquium invited Hampden-Sydney Professors to participate.

Scope and Contents

This collection consists of memos, correspondence, abstracts and proposals, promotional materials such as booklets and press releases related to the Faculty Colloquium Lecture series from 1973 to 1990. This set of records in incomplete and does not cover the full lifespan of the Colloquium. This collection does not include any audiovisual recordings of any of the lectures. However, proposals, programs, and handouts include abstracts and descriptions of the presentations.
