It is unknown when, and by what means, this collection came into the possession of Longwood University or the Greenwood Library Archives. However, it is likely that the collection was donated to the school when Lucy Irvine attended the Fiftieth Anniversary Celebration in March 1934.
Lucy B. Irvine of Buffalo Gap, Virginia received her diploma from [then] State Female Normal School in June 1891.
This collection consists of a program from the Fiftieth Anniversary Celebration of the State Teachers College in 1934 and an essay, written by Lucy B. Irvine, entitled "Froebel and His Work," which was read by her at the June 1891 commencement exercises.
