Biographical / Historical

During the 1960s Longwood's dining hall was operated by Slater Food Services, and the dining hall was located in what is now Blackwell. Dining hall staff were predomintly African American, preparing students three meals a day, as well as preparing food for other special events at Longwood and for the community. Meals at Longwood were also served family style, and Longwood students were hired as waitresses to serve tables.
