The items in this collection, which belonged to Margaret Delphine Hatch while she was a student at State Teachers College, were later acquired by Nancy Shelton during her tenure with the Longwood University Department of Alumni Relations. It is unknown when this collection was transferred to the Greenwood Library Archives.
Margaret Delphine Hatch was born in South Hill, Virginia in 1906 to Sidney Tasker Hatch and Lunette Butterworth Hatch. In 1929, she graduated from then-State Teachers College in Farmville, Virginia with a Bachelor's Degree in History. While a student at State Teachers College, Hatch was a member of the YWCA, the Athletic Association, Le Cercle Francais, and the Mecklenburg Club. After graduation, Margaret Delphine Hatch spent many years as a teacher and librarian in the Mecklenburg County public school system, until her retirement in 1974.
This collection, which dates ca. 1929, consists of a diploma, a "middy" blouse, a linen laundry bag, and a portrait photograph.
