Custodial History

The item in this collection relates to Mary Leach Elmore while she was a student at Longwood College and was later acquired by Nancy Shelton during her tenure with the Longwood University Department of Alumni Relations. It is unknown when the collection was transferred to the Greenwood Library Archives.

Biographical / Historical

Mary Leach Elmore of Charlotte, North Carolina was born in 1941 to Richard T. and Jewell M. Leach. In 1958, she enrolled as a student at then-Longwood College and graduated in 1962 with a degree in elementary education. While a student at Longwood College, Elmore served on the Virginian (yearbook) staff, was Treasurer of the Junior Class, May Day Business Manager, and was President of South Cunningham dormitory. She was also a member of Alpha Sigma Tau and Pi Delta Epsilon.

Scope and Contents

This collection consists of a citation, from the Longwood House Council, issued to Mary Leach Elmore in 1958.
