The first Farmville Baseball team was formed in 1902, with Dr. J.M. Hamlet as team captain, E.C. Wiltse as president, and
A.C. Edwards as secretary and treasurer. Throughout the early part of the 20th century, there are reports in the Farmville
Herald newspaper that announce upcoming baseball games and the resulting scores.
This photograph, dated 1911, was taken at a baseball game between two Farmville baseball teams, the Fats and the Leans. The
opposite side of the photograph lists names of players as well as some of the spectators.
