Biographical Note

Edmund "Ned" Berkley Jr. worked as an archivist at the University of Virginia and was a researcher-writer/editor. Berkeley was known for his pioneering work on paper clips and their impact on paper in the archival community. His research and work is a topic in this correspondence. Doug Bakken was a Midwest archivist whose archives career was in Nebraska Historical Society, Cornell University, Anheuser-Busch, and the Henry Ford Museum.

This collection contains the correspondence between Edmund "Ned" Berkeley, Jr. and Doug Bakken, two archival colleagues and close professional friends, circa 1965-1983. The correspondence is a mix of personal and professional topics but primarily focuses on their respective work in archives.
