Caroline Brandt (nee Yarnall Casey) was born in Philadelphia on March 9, 1928. In 1951 Caroline married C. Coleman McGehee,
who died in 1995. In 1999 she married Bohn C. Lindemann, who died in 2003.
Brandt, a collector of miniature books, has been collecting miniature books for almost as long as she can remember.Brandt
is a charter member of the Miniature Book Society, an international group that she co-founded in 1983. The McGehee Miniature
Book Collection, named after her first husband,an alumnus of the University of Virginia, came to Albert and Shirley Small
Special Collections Library in 2005.
This collection contains correspondence, clippings, newsletters, photographs, certificates, broadsides, catalogs, notes, lectures,
appraisals, articles, DVDs, audio cassettes, and VHS tapes related to the Caroline Brandt's building of The McGehee Miniature
Book Collection. The bulk of the collection is reference materials on the miniature books as well as appraisals documenting
the collection and its value. Brandt spent most of her life building a collection of 15,000 miniature books, which now reside
in the Albert and Shirley Small Special Collections Library. The McGehee Miniature Book Collection, named after her first
husband, C. Coleman McGehee, a UVA alumnus, came to the library in 2005.
