Hillsboro, Virginia store ledger (1836-1850; 0.44 cubic feet) is comprised of approximately 200 pages filled out or partially filled out. Names of customers include Dettor, Wayland, Bowen, Ramsey, etc., whose properties surrounded Hillsboro (now Yancey Mills). The store was owned or funded by James Gunstead and Alexander K. Yancey. In addition to the usual store items, this shop handled a lot of fancy goods. Some include pink silk, velvet ribbons, Irish linen, Tuscan bonnets, palm leaf hats, plated tea and table spoons, French bombazine fabric, champagne wine, white silk hosiery, a Britannica coffee pot and many Prunella shoes.
