The Gleaner was a self-described "amateur manuscript magazine" edited by Winifred T. Godfrey of Kew Gardens, Surrey. There
was only one copy produced of each issue, and the essays and illustrations came to Godfrey from writers and artists across
the United Kingdom.

The Gleaner magazine (1910-1918; 0.8 cubic feet) documents a partial print run of the UK amateur manuscript magazine. The
collection contains sixteen issues, each handmade and one-of-a-kind, each containing a variety of literary essays, illustrations,
and cartoons. Later issues include first-person accounts of World War I written by members of the military.
